ILLINOIS NET ONLINE

Illinois NET Online offers web-based courses for Illinois school and child care staff to complete at their leisure. Courses are provided free of charge.

Illinois NET is an approved CPDU (Continuing Professional Development Unit) provider, offering courses for credit towards the maintenance/renewal of professional certification. Upon completion of the pre-course survey, the presentation, and the post-course survey, participants will receive access to a copy of the Course Completion Certificate to print and retain. If you belong to another professional organization that requires continuing education, you may submit this Certificate to that organization as proof of completion for the consideration of credit hours.

Prior to starting the course, please review the following:

1.  While Illinois NET Online courses are free of charge, participants will need to have access to computers that meet minimum hardware requirements and have Flash and Adobe Acrobat software. Please review the computer check list on the Student Login Page.

2.  To register for a course, you must complete and submit the Course Registration Form on the Student Login Page. A user ID and password will immediately appear on the screen and will also be emailed to you within 24 hours. For convenient, self-paced learning, you can access the course with your user ID and password for a full year.

A list of courses along with a description and suggested audience is provided below. While Illinois NET Online currently offers only one course "Nutrition Education That Works: An Integrated Approach", new courses will be added as they are developed.

Nutrition Education That Works: An Integrated Approach - This interactive course explores statistics that indicate kids are not meeting current health recommendations and how schools can be a part of the solution to improve children's health. The presentation provides educators with the information and skills needed to integrate nutrition education into core curricula. Course content includes an introduction to Team Nutrition curricula and newly updated nutrition guidance. Intended Audience: Pre-K through grade five policymakers, administrators, and school staff (teachers, food service staff, nurses, and coaches). This course is equivalent to two CPDU credits or two hours of continuing education.
