What does the Nutrition Education Loan Library
contain?
The Nutrition Education Loan Library contains a
collection of over 700 resources for staff development and the instruction
of children, youth and parents. Resources in the Loan Library include
curriculum guides, videotapes, software, games, books, puppets,
special education materials, food service materials and other resources
of interest to child care and school staff. Resources are added
on a continuing basis as funds allow. Search the Loan Library.
What is the purpose of the Loan Library?
The Nutrition Education Loan Library provides low-cost,
ready access to nutrition education materials which can be used
for student instruction, staff training, parent education and program
planning. The Loan Library also allows child care center and school
staff to preview materials prior to purchase.
Who can use the Nutrition Education Loan Library?
The resources in the Nutrition Education Loan Library
are available for loan in Illinois to:
- Child Care Center Staff
- Family Child Care Home Sponsors
- Teachers (preschool to high school)
- School Food Service Staff
- School Nurses
Please Note: Materials will not be shipped
to a home address. They will only be shipped to Illinois K-12 schools,
day care centers or to family child care home sponsors.
How long can I keep loan materials?
All items are on loan for a two week period, with
the exception of the Body Walk materials which have a four week
period.
How many materials can I check out at one
time?
Five, is the limit. However, once the initial five
items have been returned, you may check out five more.
What if I need help locating nutrition education
materials to fit my needs?

to view the catalog. A search feature will allow you to locate suitable
materials according to your audience, format and nutrition topic
needs.
How much does it cost to borrow materials?
The only cost of borrowing materials is the amount
of postage required for insuring and mailing materials back to the
loan library. There is one exception: the Bodywalk materials will
be shipped with a return shipment label enclosed to cover the cost
of insuring and mailing the materials back.
